Office Policy


 

Gastroenterology is the study of the normal function and diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver. It involves a detailed understanding of the normal action (physiology) of the gastrointestinal organs including the movement of material through the stomach and intestine (motility), the digestion and absorption of nutrients into the body, removal of waste from the system, and the function of the liver as a digestive organ. It includes common and important conditions such as colon polyps and cancer, hepatitis, gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn), peptic ulcer disease, colitis, gallbladder and biliary tract disease, nutritional problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and pancreatitis. I essence, all normal activity and disease of the digestive organs is part of the study of Gastroenterology.

Monday through Friday. 8:30am - 5:00pm

Saturday 8:30am – 1:00 pm

We offer same day appointments.

 

Appointment Policy

Appointments can be made by calling (845) 452-9800 during regular business hours. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete our check-in process.

If you are going to be more than 15 minutes late, notify the office. We may need you to reschedule your appointment. Our doctors make every effort to see you at your scheduled time, emergencies or hospital duties may sometimes delay our doctors. We apologize in advance.

  • Note: It is important to confirm with your insurance carrier if you need a referral or authorization and to verify that your visit will be covered by your plan. If a referral is required, make sure you bring this form with you at the time of the appointment.
  • Note: Please bring your Insurance card, a list of your current medications or your medication bottles and past medical records and/or test results to your appointment, if you are a new patient to the practice.
  • Note: No routine prescriptions will be filled at night or on weekends.
  • Note: It is NOT our policy to treat patients over the telephone.
  • Note: If you have a problem or question between appointments, please call us. State the
    reason for the call to the receptionist. She will route the call to the appropriate department.

If the question is medical, you will be connected to the provider’s medical assistance. If she feels the matter needs to be addressed by your physician, she/he will return your call as soon as possible. Please leave your number where you will be reached.

 

Cancellations

Your appointment time has been reserved just for you. If you cannot keep your appointment, please call 845-452-9800. We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel your appointment without charge. If less then 24 hour notice there is a fee of $25.00. If you miss or do not show for your appointment there is a fee of $25.00.

 

Emergencies

One of our physicians is available for emergencies at all times. During the office hours please call our office, identify yourself and relay the information to the receptionist – we will respond promptly. We suggest that you call us before going to the hospital emergency rooms, thereby minimizing patient costs, inconvenience, and lost time. Calls after office hours and on weekends are for emergencies only, please call 845-452-9800.

 

Prescriptions

Calls before 9:00am for prescription refills will be answered the same day. Prescription refill calls after 9:00am will be addressed as the Doctor or Medical Assistance have time during the day.

Long term medications may be handled (only during 8:30-5:00pm) over the phone if you remain under our active care. We do not prescribe new medication over the telephone.

 

Test Results

All patients are anxious to know the results of tests that are performed. We do not give test results over the phone. Your test results will be discussed by your provider during your next office visit. If a serious problem is found, you will be notified immediately upon our office receiving the test result. If you do not receive the results within 7 to 10 days, please call our office.
