Digestive Disease Center to Host Colon Cancer Discussion


 

Poughkeepsie, NY-February 25, 2014–Digestive Disease Center of the Hudson Valley, the region’s leading Gastroenterology Medical Practice, will host an informative discussion about Colon Cancer and how to prevent it on Wednesday, March 5th at Hudson Valley Endoscopy Center, located at 400 Westage Business Center Drive in Fishkill.

“Colon Cancer 101: Learn how to prevent it” will begin at 5:30 pm and will be facilitated by board-certified Gastroenterologist Dr. Simona Meca.

The Digestive Disease Center recommends that everyone over the age of 50 be screened and undergo a routine colonoscopy every five years. A colonoscopy may also be necessary at an earlier age if there is a personal or family history of colon cancer.

Over fifty-thousand people are expected to die from colon cancer in 2014 according to the American Cancer Society.
