Cast Iron Saurkraut

While watching the food network the other morning and trying to decide what to make for dinner I saw Guy Fieri making a grilled German dinner. While I did make the dinner I did not make the sauerkraut his way. I did think his way was a great idea but did not want to try too many new items at the same time. This recipe is a play on German red cabbage my family loves it I hope you enjoy it too!

1 head cabbage sliced thin
1 onion thinly sliced
½ apple diced small
2 tbsp butter
Tsp caraway seeds
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

In a cast iron skillet heat butter. I use the cast iron because of it even and high heat cooking. Next add onion, apple and spices. Cook for about 5-7 minutes. Next add vinegar and beer cook for an additional 15 minutes. Serve with German sausage or a nice grilled pork chop.
